Tillandsia usneoides- spanish moss
Its natural habitat extends from the southern states of North America to Chile. It pursues only an epiphytic lifestyle and prefers high humidity wetlands. One of the most widespread and one of the most popular species of the Tillandsias. The plant is only a few inches in size and consists of three leaves that form an inverted Y. It can create large colonies up to several meters in length, as the leaves are alternated on the elongated shaft. The whole plant is greyish-white, richly covered with scaly hairs. The flowers are tiny yellow, green or yellow-green. They smell very pleasant in the evening. In the summer you can keep it outside in the garden, half shaded and soaked instead of sprayed. In the winter ou have to keep it indoors avoiding the radiant heat from the radiator.
